On February 28th, the biggest stars in Hollywood gathered for the 88th Academy Awards. While the gowns were the main focus on the red carpet, the top looks for the evening owed much of their glamour and style to the jewelry.
Below are six of our favorite jewelry pieces from the 2016 Oscars, plus how you can get each look for yourself with moissanite!
Reese Witherspoon – Statement Emerald Cut Ring
Large statement rings are frequent favorites of awards show attendees, and this year’s Oscars were no exception. Actress Reese Witherspoon sported an enormous 7.49 carat ring from Tiffany & Co. featuring a striking emerald cut green tsavorite center stone surrounded by a sparkling halo of diamonds.

Green moissanite makes a gorgeous and sustainable alternative to tsavorite, and is particularly stunning in an emerald cut as shown in the ring below. The Brenda ring is a show-stopping 9.25 carats in total, making it fit for anyone to wear including a movie star!
Kerry Washington – Sparkling Hoop Earrings
Scandal star Kerry Washington opted for a pair of truly one-of-kind Harry Winston hoop earrings. These vintage hoops date to 1963 and feature three full rows of diamonds for an incredible total carat weight of 42.54 carats!

These moissanite hoop earrings designed by our friends at Fire & Brilliance offer a more subtle take on this dramatic look. With two rows of shimmering moissanite stones, these sleek and sparkly hoops are scintillating enough to make a statement but delicate enough for everyday wear.
Rachel McAdams – Stacking Rings
We’ve written about the popularity of stacked rings, and Best Actress nominee Rachel McAdams took the trend to the highest level on the Oscars red carpet. The rows of glittering gems complemented the sheen of her chíc emerald green gown.

If you’d like to try out this trendy idea of stacking your rings but feel that it might be a little too ostentatious for your style, the ring below is the perfect way to start. It offers five alternating rows in one band, plus a glistening 2.35ct center stone that would look right at home on your finger and on the red carpet.

Andra Day – Ornate Drop Earrings
Singer Andra Day stunned on the red carpet with a pair of statement drop earrings. The filigree detail on the jewelry supplemented her vintage-inspired gown and hairstyle to create a classic Hollywood look.
The Harper Earrings by Frances Gadbois designed exclusively for Lulu Avenue are one of the most sought-after styles from the Lulu Spring Collection. The earrings feature three moissanite stones floating within an open lacy setting. These elegant earrings would make the ideal accessory for your own night on the town!
Olivia Munn – Stud Earrings
While the boldest and most unique pieces of jewelry might get more attention on the red carpet, sometimes the more traditional accessories are the most beautiful. Actress Olivia Munn’s stud earrings, for example, were classic and understated, despite totally nearly 5 carats in weight.

The jaw-dropping moissanite studs below are even bigger, at 5 carats total (2.5 carats per earrings). Designer Jen Hollywood-Showell of J Hollywood Designs refers to them as “satellite dish studs”, and we can see why – you could see them from outer space!
Emily Blunt – Chandelier Earrings
Ornate chandelier earrings were particularly prevalent on the Oscars 2016 red carpet, with stars like Sophia Vergara, Alicia Vikander, and Cate Blanchett selecting the style. Our favorite pair was worn by actress Emily Blunt, as a perfect complement to her jeweled gown.

These lovely chandelier earrings by Kate Szabone offer a similar style but with more vintage detailing. Each earring features five moissanite stones set into a delicate Milgrain petal motif for just the right combination of glamour and elegance.
