With a New Year comes new resolutions. While the usual resolutions, like eating healthier, starting an exercise regimen, and learning a new skill, are great, we thought we’d share some jewelry-related ideas. Here are our resolutions for the beautiful, sparkly things in your life.
Clean your jewelry regularly
You should have your fine jewelry cleaned by a professional at least once a year, but we’d recommend having it done every six months or so. In between professional cleanings, you can clean your own jewelry at home. The more frequently you wear a particular piece, the more often you should clean it.
Not sure how to clean your jewelry? Check out our list of tips and tricks for keeping your favorite pieces looking their best.
Buy at least one classic piece
Some pieces of jewelry just never go out of style. Examples include solitaire pendants, stud earrings, cocktail rings, and tennis bracelets. Even though high-quality examples of these items might be a bit more expensive than their trendy fashion counterparts, you can think of them as an investment. Over the years, you’ll certainly get your money’s worth.
Try something different
With every New Year comes new jewelry styles. Jewelry designers are extremely creative people who produce unique and interesting pieces year after year. Why not give some of these fun new styles a try, or branch out a bit when it comes to your own personal style? If you’re a silver person, give gold a go. If you usually only wear one or two pieces of jewelry at once, mix it up by layering several pieces together. You might discover a look that you love!
Clean out your jewelry box
Out with the old and in with the new. If your jewelry box is getting a little crowded, now is a great time to go through your pieces and decide what to keep and what to toss or give away. Having a de-cluttered jewelry box will help you save time in the New Year, and keep your favorite items within easy reach.
Embrace a trend or two
While we do love classic jewelry, we can’t help but enjoy trying out new trends. Some of our favorites include: stacking rings, two-toned rings, and rose gold. Some trends that we predict will be big in 2016 are chains, collar necklaces, and statement earrings. If you enjoy being on the cutting edge, we recommend giving upcoming trends a try.
We also asked some of our colleagues and contributors for their jewelry-related resolutions. Our friends at Venazia™ Haute-Couture, one of our favorite jewelry lines, told us their plans for the New Year:
Venazia, one of the few jewelers to carry the prestige of being one of Charles & Colvard’s Certified Moissanite Distributors, is excited to bring in the New Year with master-crafted creations designed for 2016 and beyond.
Every piece is a work of art in and of itself, with the utmost attention given to every detail, from the selection to the cut to the casting. 2016 is shaping up to be a year of energy and innovation. Venazia’s New Year’s resolution is to redefine the object of desire by molding a new echelon of luxury. “We are proud to make Venazia’s exclusive creation of Haute Couture Jewelry the new object of desire,” says Nathalie Betito, Head Designer of Venazia. “We are always looking to bring the next level of brilliance to the industry. The New Year will be the perfect time to follow through with our promise of forever.”
Only a small portion of jewelers who sell moissanite have earned this prestigious affiliation, meaning they adhere to the highest of standards to usher in high-impact clientele. Backed by these standards, Venazia sees 2016 as a first step in changing the perception of fine luxury.
Our new creations are certain to set an opulent and stylish tone for the New Year.
We can’t wait to see what new designs Venazia has in store!
We also asked around at Moissy HQ to see what our co-workers had on their own lists of resolutions. Here are some of the responses we received.
“I want to buy my first pair of moissanite studs and continue with my stacker ring collection. I really like the stacking trend, and studs make great accessories for everyday wear.” Jessie Carroll, Charles & Colvard
“I want to try to wear something new every day, whether it’s a new trend or a new piece of jewelry.” Jill M., Lulu Avenue
“I’m going to buy a really great statement necklace this year!” Kristen P., Moissy.com
